The arrival of Storm Jonas has marked the onset of a spell of heavy rain across the country, accompanied by strong winds that are causing damage in several areas.
In Cork, for instance, there is a flood warning due to heavy rainfall. Road debris has also been reported across the country, so motorists are advised to drive with extreme caution.
A status yellow wind warning is now in place for the entire country, with gusts of up to 110km/h expected in some areas.
Also, a status yellow rainfall warning has been announced for west Munster, Connacht and Co Donegal. Rainfall levels of 30 to 40mm are expected there, with the possibility of local flooding.
