Students paying the price: Bruton reveals Junior Cert students will lose 10% of marks if ASTI dispute is not resolved




There could be some bad news for Junior Cert students later in the school year as the Minister for Education Richard Bruton revealed that they could lose 10% of their final grade due to the ongoing teachers dispute.

It is understood students from 375 schools will unfairly lose marks on their English exam because they will be unable to complete a written piece of work in a new classroom-based assessment.

The news which will surely anger many young students nationwide coms as the ASTI are still at loggerheads with the Government about the reforms, which apparently include classroom-based assessments.

According Mr Bruton said 10% will not be given if the dispute continues.
