A group of eleven students were rescued from the Mourne Mountains, Co Down yesterday after the weather deteriorated rapidly.
All students were aged between 16 and 17 years of age.
The students were taking part in a Duke of Edinburgh gold expedition and when located they were suffering from a mild case of hypothermia.
A spokesperson stated that the students could have been found in a far worse condition had they not taken measures to protect themselves.
One student was treated by the Northern Ireland Ambulance service, after losing consciousness.
The spokesperson commended the students for their efforts “Cleary at it not been for the outstanding efforts of the young people in this group, this situation would have been much much more serious”
