RTÉ reportedly have seen this report, which details cases where drug users’ families are intimidated by ruthless drug dealers.

It was revealed that two thirds of drug users attacked by gangs do not report these incidents to the gardai. Anna Quigley of the CityWide campaign revealed that just 17% of people reported cases of intimidation.

One third of all cases contained details where mothers of drug users were targeted and it has been discovered that damage has been caused to homes and property.

Debts of between €500 and €5,000 were detailed to be the reasons why these attacks are carried out. CityWide anti-drugs campaign stated that in most of these cases the intimidation continued long after the debts were paid.

Over 40% of the abuse received is verbal abuse, but horrific cases of physical violence have also been discovered. This report is being released after two victims of gangland violence in Dublin were buried during the week.
