What little hope we had of a somewhat decent end of summer has been dashed by a slow-moving weather front hovering over Ireland.
After a bright and sunny start of the morning today, things will take a turn for the worse by early afternoon, with showers developing everywhere.
There were thundery showers overnight in some parts of the country, and the unsettled weather is set to continue into the weekend. Temperatures will remain at around 15-18C, one or two degrees below the average for the month of August.
