Several public voices have come out in support of the UK Conservative MP Boris Johnson after the politically correct media attacked the former Home Secretary for joking that women in burkas look like “letter boxes or bank robbers”.

Recently Oxford Imam Taj Hargey has come in support on Johnson and said that the MP should not have to apologise for telling the truth about the full-face veil which the Imam described as “hideous, tribal and ninja like”, the Oxford Mail reports.

Other celebrities, including comedian Rowan Atkinson, of Blackadder and Mr Bean fame has voiced his support for the embattled MP saying, “no apology is needed” and that the burka quip was “a pretty good joke”, ITV reported.

Johnson now faces a potential internal investigation from his own party for breaching the Conservative Party’s Code of Conduct and around 30 irate Muslim and progressive protestors demonstrated outside his constituency office in Uxbridge, the BBC reported.

Metropolitan Police Commissioner Cressida Dick however, has said that Johnson’s remarks while offensive were not criminal.
