Tadgh, a veteran Rothschild giraffe that lived at Fota Island for most of its life, has sadly passed away at the age of 16.
The animal fathered 23 offspring throughout its life, and has 17 grandchildren.
Tadgh died of suspected heart failure.
The Rothschild species is critically endangered, with fewer than 1,600 specimens living out in the wild. A further 500 live in captivity in zoos and safari parks across the world.
