U.S President Donald Trump has declared that the EU is a foe of the United States in an interview with CBS The Hill has reported.
Trump has long accused the EU of taking advantage of the U.S in term of trade and execrated EU members of NATO for failing to pay their fair share for their own defence.
EU Council President Donald Tusk publicly slammed the U.S President on social media for his comments saying that the EU and U.S are “best friends” and that anyone saying otherwise is spreading “fake news”.
Meanwhile, the British Prime Minister Theresa May has said that President Trump encouraged her to sue the EU over its dispute with Brussels over its impending break with the Union, according to TIME.
President Trump has been a long standing, outspoken supporter of the Brexit and was condemned by the establishment media for his public criticism of Prime Minister May’s leadership concerning the UK’s negotiations with the EU over its withdrawal from the bloc.
