Taoiseach: “Harassment should not be tolerated in any circumstance and those who are victims of such abuse should come forward immediately”

The Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has said he won’t tolerate any harassment of any kind and encouraged those who are victims of such behaviour to come forward and report it.

Mr Varadkar who was speaking in the Dáil recently said that any such behaviour including sexual harassment or bullying in the workplace is not acceptable on any level and it must be stamped out immediately.

According to RTE News the Taoiseach’s comments came after he was questioned by Labour TD Joan Burton about his position on sexual harassment within the Dáil.

Mr Varadkar said any such offences within or outside the Dáil will not be tolerated in any circumstances and he advised any man or woman who may have been subjected to such crimes to report it to the authorities.

The Taoiseach also commended those around the world who have already spoke out about their abuse, saying their brave actions will make people think twice about treating their employees or colleagues in such a beastly manner.
