Taoiseach receives ‘chilling and abusive’ texts and calls on his personal mobile phone

In a week that seems to be going from bad to worse for Enda Kenny’s embattled and languishing Coalition, it has emerged today that he has personally received ‘hundreds’ of abusive and threatening messages on his own mobile phone.

A senior Fine Gael official confirmed this and said that the abuse was ‘terrible’.

This is but the latest mishap in a long string of disastrous blows for this bungling Cabinet.

Only yesterday, the Tánaiste was forced to barricade herself inside a vehicle to avoid a group of protesters. Two days ago, Donegal joined Wicklow and Sligo in voting in favor of abolishing water charges. Last week, the installation of water meters had to be halted due to threats and intimidation of workers.

The list goes on, and it does not make for happy reading for the Government.

A new water package is supposed to be unveiled soon, and the figures of €76 a year for a one adult household, and €178 for the rest, irrespective of how many adults reside in the property, have been bandied around.

At this stage however, the people have had more than enough and will accept nothing but a complete and total scrapping of the charges and the company in charge with enforcing the ripping off, Irish Water.
