The Taoiseach Enda Kenny has refused to reveal any plans for any future departure, saying he currently has a lot on his plate.
Mr Kenny’s comments come after his own party colleagues claimed Mr Kenny should step aside from his leadership role.
Although the Fine Gael party have not ruled out holding a no confidence vote, the Taoiseach has refused to entertain any talk of retirement, saying he is still focused on the Government’s goals.
Mr Kenny said: “I’m focusing entirely on a really busy and challenging agenda up ahead.”
“We’ve got lots of work for all of our party to engage themselves in, ministerial portfolios and programmes for Government to implement…That’s what we should be about.”
