Taoiseach Varadkar said to be overjoyed that Ibrahim Halawa gets off

Earlier today, Ibrahim Halawa’s verdict on his involvement in the Muslim brotherhood protests and conspiracy for murder has been found as not guilty.
The Taoiseach Leo Varadkar is said to have spoken with Egyptian authorities about Halawa’s involvement in the Muslim Brotherhood protests in Cairo in 2013.
Leo Varadkar is said to be overjoyed at today’s verdict will welcome Halawa home with open arms over the coming days.
The Halawa family, who are of Egyptian origin but hold Irish passports, have been campaigning for some time for this release. They have vigorously lobbied Irish politicians to involve the Irish government.
It is now likely that Halawa will arrive in Ireland in the coming days. 21-yr-old Halawa was detained during Muslim Brotherhood protests in Cairo in 2013.
He was one of 400 people who were accused of conspiracy for murder.
