Telling it like it is: Artist Kevin Sharkey says Irish people should be prioritised in being given houses before migrants

Speaking on tonight’s Claire Byrne Show, acclaimed artist Kevin Sharkey spoke candidly about how he feels Irish people should be given priority over migrants and people who have recently just arrived into Ireland.

Kevin, who himself was homeless at one point, was the first black Irish television presenter in Ireland some 30 years ago and has faced much atrocious racism in his own life.

The artist claims that white Irish people can’t say what he is saying because they’ll merely be put down as racist, but people can’t say that about him because his father is Nigerian and his mother is Irish.

Kevin said he’s a very proud Irishman, born and bred in Donegal but conveyed how annoyed his is that “Irish people are put to the back of the queue because they’re Irish”.

He gave a tremendous analogy in the most basic terms that showed how dangerous open borders can be.

Claiming that no one would bu a house where you had to leave the window or door open but essentially that’s what happening the EU border policies.

He said that if we don’t start to change things, Ireland will be a very dangerous and bad place to be in some 20 years time.

What’s your thoughts on what Mr Sharkey had to say?
