Margaretlee Hilton gave birth to her daughter Zoe two weeks ago. The young mother was too ill to see or cradle her baby, but was able to hold onto the newborn’s babygro as she sadly passed away on Sunday afternoon.
Margaretlee had been diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer shortly after finding out she was pregnant. The brave woman was given three to six months to live.
Two weeks ago, doctors at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast decided to attempt to deliver the baby by Caesarean section, which was accomplished successfully. Baby Zoe is currently in intensive care at the neo-natal unit at the hospital.
Margaretlee’s funeral will be held on Wednesday, with Requiem Mass at St Oliver Plunkett’s Church on the Glen Road.
