Tragic news this afternoon after local Mexican media are reporting that an Irishman has been shot dead in an apparent car-jacking.
The Department of Foreign Affairs have confirmed that an Irishman has been killed in Mexico.
Although it is still unclear on how the 29-year-old Co Louth man died, it has been reported by local media that he was shot during a car-jacking in Lazaro Cardenas in the State of Michoacán.
They also say the Irishman survived for a number of hours after the shooting incident, but sadly died in hospital.
The Department of Foreign Affairs have said they aware of the case and is providing assistance to the man’s family.
