A Ryanair flight flying from Lithuania to London Luton had an emergency landing at London Stansted with the assistance of the Royal Air Force following a bomb threat.
Typhoon military jets took to the skies, surrounding the Ryanair flight, whilst armed police drove onto the runway ready for the landing. The plane landed at 8:55am and no device was found.
Passengers were not informed of the bomb threat until the plane had landed. The terrified passengers, including young children, were then escorted from the plane by the armed police.
A Ryanair spokesperson said Lithuanian authorities received a suspected hoax security alert.
