A heroic French soldier managed to shoot a man armed with a machete and carrying two bags on his back as he tried to enter the Paris Louvre museum and blow it up in what the government have called a terrorist attack.
The man shouted “Allahu Akbar” and ran towards police and soldiers before being shot near the museum’s shopping mall, by the brave soldier who sustained a stab wound in the process.
A second person had also been held in custody after acting suspiciously.
The attacker is alive but in life threatening condition, the head of Paris police Michel Cadot told reporters at the scene.
Parisians are advised to be on guard in case further attacks occur today or at the weekend.
