Tesco creates 104 new jobs at new Ballincollig store

One of the countries biggest supermarket chains Tesco has opened another new store in Co Cork this morning which will create 104 new jobs.

The new 32,000 sq ft outlet in Ballincollig, officially opened its doors at 8am this morning, the new store will reportedly employ a total of 125 people, most from the local area.
Irish Olympic sprint legend, Derval O’Rourke, will officially cut the ribbon on the opening of the Tesco store in Ballincollig later, the event will also mark the start of ‘Tread-milling for Temple St’ a  fundraiser for Tesco’s new charity of the year.

The supermarket chain is also set to announce a community fund, which will help local charities, and a new surplus food diversion project to help charities in need of food. The new store, which is located in Ballincollig town centre, is understood to have 32,000 square feet of net retail space and over 300 covered car parking spaces. It also has an extensive range of fresh food including a butcher, fish counter and bakery, and hundreds of locally produced products including Ballincollig-based firms Healy’s Honey and O’Keeffe’s Bakery, as well as Ballincollig-founded Denise’s Delicious Gluten Free Bakery.
The store also features a pizza counter, salad bar and a sandwich bar.
