An enormous fire that engulfed the Primark (Penneys) store in Belfast city centre yesterday morning thankfully saw no one hurt, but the city itself is mourning the damage done to one of its most iconic buildings.

Up to 11 fire brigade services tackled the fire which is believed to have started on the 5th floor of the huge building in

It’s believed that the fire started around 10:50am with the roof collapsing towards midday.

The famous ‘Bank Building’ is a listed building, meaning it must be fully restored. Hopefully that can happen, but there are fears this morning that it could collapse, there’s one main steel bar holding the facet together.

Authorities are checking the building this morning to determine what can be done.
