Thanks for nothing Dublin City Council – Garth Brooks kicked off his world tour without any reference to Ireland

The most Googled name in Ireland this year, Garth Brooks, started his world tour in Chicago last night.

The man who waited all of 18 yrs to perform on a world stage again, started his concert with his arms raised into the air, fists clenched and shouting at a jam packed Chicago crowd: “you came back, you came back”.

Right from the get-go, the crowd drowned out the country western stars voice. Only about 3 songs in did you actually fully hear Brooks himself.

His wife Trish Yearwood sang with the singer, along with a major repertoire of hits and cover songs.

The loudest part of the night was when Brooks strummed his guitar to the sound of “Friends in low places”, and “The Dance”.

Pat Quinn, the governor of Illinois appeared on stage for the encore to announce that September the 4th is now known as ‘Garth Brooks Day’.

Brooks never once mentioned Ireland.

All this could have and SHOULD have happened in Croke Park. Between Dublin City Council,.the government and the residents, something should have been done.

That money should be in our economy, the Irish fans should be the ones singing those songs, but instead our useless government let €50 million escape our economy. At this stage, why should we be surprised?
