Unusually high temperatures in Ireland are normally a double edge sword. Good for sun seekers, and also good for the proliferation of several insect species.
Due to the recent hot weather, the population of flying ants has dramatically increased, and entire colonies are about to take flight and soar across Irish gardens.
They will invade the homes of the rich and poor alike in search of sustenance, particularly sweet and sticky substances. You are advised to clear any spills right away and remove crumbs and scraps of food from your kitchen counter, or elsewhere.
The ants are coming. So be afraid. Be very afraid.
