The future of the CervicalCheck scheme could be in doubt as it has been reported that the US laboratories that carry-out screening could pull out of Ireland.
According to The Sunday Business Post, laboratories stateside are currently considering leaving Ireland after a dispute has occurred with the state in regards to compensation for medical negligence.
It is reported that the labs want the Irish taxpayer to under write costs even though it is stated within the current contract that laboratories accept liability in regards to negligence costs under the scheme.
The Sunday Business Post say the current deal which is up for renewal, will end in October.
However its future could be put in jeopardy as the HSE have growing fears over future negotiations.
