The great motor insurance scam continues, as figures just released indicate that premiums have risen by 40% in the last year alone.
About a third of drivers here have seen their insurance rise by up to 50% in the last 12 months, while young drivers are severely punished with outrageous premiums of between €6,000 and €14,000 a year.
These figures have been described as ‘shocking’ by some politicians, and if the trend continues, it’s likely to have a deep impact on businesses and rural Ireland in particular.
