Met Eireann had to issue a weather warning yesterday due to high temperatures for five counties today.
The warning affects Dublin, Carlow, Kildare, Wicklow and Meath, and was put in place until 6pm.
While temperatures reached 29C today, the warm spell is forecast to come to an end by Friday, with cooler and more unsettled conditions expected over the weekend.
It’s been said that yesterday was the hottest summer solstice since 1976 and one of the hottest days on Irish meteorological records.
Overall next week will see temps return to a lovely 20c, so it looks like we’re actually getting a summer this year!
