A hunter has once again paid the price this week after another elephant retaliated in defence by crushing the armed man before he could get a shot away.
The least incident which occurred in Namibia, occurs less than 3 months after another hunter was crushed by a large elephant in attempt to save its life.
According to local media reports the latest victim of such an attack 46-year-old Jose Monzalvez, was killed on Saturday afternoon in a private wildlife area 70 kilometers (43 miles) northwest of the small town of Kalkfeld after he was crushed by a defending elephant.
It is understood Mr Monzalvez, an Argentinian native was killed when one of the elephants charged before his group before he was able to pick off a shot and kill the charging elephant.
Mr Monzalvez’s death comes a little over two months after another hunter named Theunis Botha, 51, was crushed to death in a Zimbabwe when an elephant picked him up by its trunk before falling on top of him.
Authorities in Namibia say Mr Monzalvez’s family have been notified of his death.
