The parents of a couple who tragically died whilst under going fertility treatment have honoured their children’s wishes by successfully giving the couple their first child following their death.
In a remarkable story the parents Shen Jie and his wife Liu XI, have fought a long and arduous battle in order for their beautiful grandson to born four years after his parents died in a car crash.
According to The Beijing News the newborn baby boy’s parents were tragically killed in a crash in Yixing in Jiangsu province in March 2013 and had been undergoing fertility treatment before they died.
The birth of boy nicknamed ‘Tiantian’ (sweet in Mandarin) was made all the more difficult as China does not have a legal precedent for the parents of couples inheriting their children’s embryos.
However after finding a woman willing to be a surrogate mother from Laos, the little baby boy was born last December following embryo fertilisation.
Speaking about the birth of their grandson both sets of grandparents, said they were delighted that their family bloodline can continue and that their children’s wishes have been fulfilled.
They also revealed that they will tell their grandson about his parents deaths when he is older.
