There has been much hype surrounding the possibility of Conor McGregor facing Floyd Mayweather Jnr in recent months, and now it seems ‘The Notorious’ could face ‘Money’ in the near future after he was granted a boxing licence in the state of California.
The unexpected news which was confirmed in the past hour will surely send the world’s media into overdrive when it comes to the possibility of a super fight.
The news of MacGregor’s licence acquisition was confirmed by California State Athletic Commission executive officer Andy Foster, who said : “He got a license today and a federal ID,” “He’s a California boxer now.”
“He’s qualified [as a boxer],” Foster said. “I’d love to see him fight in California. It just needs to be the right opponent. Certainly a high-level opponent. We’re happy to license him. We’re happy he’s a California fighter.”
Although no fight has been officially confirmed both men in the past have teased the possibility of such a match up.
Could it now actually happen?
