The spirit of Christmas: Supermarket Aldi is giving away surplus food to the homeless

In a true act of generosity, Aldi has confirmed that they will be doing their bit to help the homeless this Christmas.

The supermarket made an announcement this weekend saying that their stores will be offering food to all charity homeless organisations to help those less fortunate this Christmas.

Aldi say the vast majority of its stores across the UK will be taking part in the initiative starting once their doors shut on Christmas eve.

They also say charities will be able to collect surplus food until December 27th before their doors reopen to the public.

It is not yet known whether or not the supermarket chain will carry out the the programme here, although the company is renowned for its goodwill as they have helped a number of charities across the Ireland in recent years.
