The Weather Outside Is Frightful: Met Eireann say the country will experience more wintry showers and frost over the coming days

The country received its first scattering of snowfall over the weekend and now it seems that we could be in for another dusting of the white stuff over the next couple of days.

According to forecasters at Met Eireann who say there will plenty more frost and some wintry showers in the next couple of days. A leading forecaster for the national weather service, said: “Frost and ice will clear soon after dawn on Monday morning, as cloud increases in many places and northwest to north winds increase moderate to fresh generally.” “Showers in the north and west will become more widespread as the day goes on, some turning wintry at times on higher ground.” “Near western and northern coasts, northwest winds will increase strong and gusty later. Another cold day; highest temperatures 3 to 8 degrees Celsius.”

They added that Monday evening, the Ulster region will experience winery showers along with frost as temperatures will dip to between +2 and -1 degrees with icy patches expected on roads. Meanwhile Tuesday will be much of the same as: “It will be cold, bright and blustery with sunny spells and scattered wintry showers, mainly in coastal areas of the west and north.”

“Many other areas should be dry and bright. Highest temperatures of 4 to 6 degrees in fresh and gusty northerly winds, strong in coastal areas. “Tuesday night will be cold with frost. Later in the night thickening cloud will bring some rain or sleet into western and northwestern areas and winds will turn southwesterly.”
