As we all know it is St Patricks day today and the whole country is paying homage to our patron saint, but it looks like we are not the only ones as many of world’s most famous landmarks have suddenly turned green to honour everything that is great about our green and pleasant land.
It is believed that in total 190 landmarks and sites have been turned green as part of Tourism Ireland’s annual Global Greening. There are reportedly a number of new historic sites taking part this year including 7 World Trade Center at Ground Zero in New York, the Nelson Mandela statue in Johannesburg and, eh, Turbo the Goat in Canada.
They are joined by some old favourites which have gone green in previous years including the Colosseum in Rome, the Sacré Cœur basilica in Paris, the Great Wall of China, Niagara Falls and the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro.
