A number of women across Ireland have taken to social media to share pictures of their underwear to protest against the use of a teenage girl’s thong during a rape case in Cork last week.
The campaign which has been started to protest victim blaming after a 27-year-old man was acquitted of all charges in the case.
In a campaign which has gained momentum in recent days come after I Believe Her – Ireland posted a tweet calling on women to post a picture of their underwear with the following caption #ThisIsNotConsent.
Counsel for man acquitted of rape suggested jurors should reflect on underwear worn by the 17yo complainant. Following this wholly unacceptable comment, we are calling on our followers to post a picture of their thongs/knickers to support her with the hashtag #ThisIsNotConsent pic.twitter.com/ZkVU0GVAIN

It is believed that many women’s rights groups have been left outraged after the girl’s choice of underwear was used in the case.
The campaign has already become a global campaign with photos and comments being posted on social media outlets from women across the world.
