Three men have been arrested following a shooting incident in Co. Limerick yesterday that left one person dead.

The men, two in their late 40s, and one in his 20s, were detained last night in the Limerick area.

The 51-year-old victim was blasted in the face in a drive-by shooting in the Murroe area of Co. Limerick. Gardai believe the shooting was related to a dispute between two rival biker gangs.

He was named locally as Andrew O’Donoghue, from Murroe, Co. Limerick. He received a shotgun blast to the face at point blank range as he went to close a gate at a biker’s club house. He was rushed to hospital but died a short time later.

The men are currently detained at Henry Street and Roxboro Road Garda Stations under the provisions of Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007. They can be held for up to 7 days.
