A three-year-old boy has died following a farm accident in Gortnascreena, Drimoleague in west Cork.
It is understood there was farm machinery being operated on the farm when the accident occurred at around 10.30am. The young boy was taken to hospital but he sadly died a short time later.
Its believed that a post-mortem examination to determine what happened to the boy will take place tomorrow. Gardaí and the Health and Safety Authority are understood to be investigating the incident.
An investigation is taking place for the purposes of compiling a file for the Coroner’s Court. Gardaí have described the death as a tragic accident.
