Authorities in Ukraine have sadly confirmed that three young boys have died after they triggered a landmine at an abandoned house in the East of the country.

The devastating incident occurred in the Eastern city of Horlivka, and left another 10-year-old boy seriously injured.

It is believed the boys aged between 13 and 15 were killed after they triggered the landmine whilst playing in the house over the weekend.

The news of the boy’s death was sadly confirmed by the city’s mayor, Ivan Prikhodko, who told reporters: “They found an abandoned house and were just looking for adventure.

“We are constantly confronted by the ongoing problem of mines and I think it is something that will continue for some time.”

The city of Horlivka is located approximately 18 miles away from Donesk and has seen heavy fighting in the region following Russia’s annexation of Crime back in 2014.
