Toddler aged 17 months dies after being left inside sweltering hot car for more than eight hours




A 17 month old baby has tragically died after his mother left him inside a sweltering hot car for more than eight hours as she went to work.

The heartbreaking incident which occurred in Pembroke Pines, Florida, sadly seen the young infant lose his life after he was left inside the vehicle with temperatures topping 34C.

According to reports in the US, the infant’s mother had thought she left her son at daycare for the day and she only discovered what she had done when she went to pick him up eight hours later.

Following her discovery the distraught mother who is said to have been dealing with stress before the incident occurred, drove her young son to a nearby medical facility where doctors tried desperately to resuscitate him.

However after being transferred to another facility he sadly passed away.

Police investigating the incident say they were informed of the incident shortly after 5pm on Friday evening and they questioned the boy’s mother shortly afterwards.

They also say no charges have been brought against the boy’s mother as of yet and an investigation into the incident is still ongoing.

The latest death brings the total of car related infant deaths in the US within the past year to 24.
