Ticket touts now face a 5k fine if caught, according to the Mirror.
The hefty fine is intended to dissuade those who regularly purchase large number of tickets with the sole intention of re-selling them at grossly inflated prices.
The new legislation, which was approved at Cabinet level this week, aims to eliminate the so-called ‘organised ticket touting’ practice engineered by certain websites and organizations.
The proposal will be put before the Dáil when it returns after the summer break.
