Ticket touts could soon face tougher penalties as the Government have confirmed that it will support a legislation to tackle the ongoing issue.
Under the proposed new legislation, touts would not be allowed to re-sell tickets above face value for key events such sports and concerts.
The new restrictions would see the ban imposed on venues that can hold more than 1,000 spectators.
It will also prohibit the use of bot software which can buy excessive amounts of tickets at one time.
Speaking about the proposals Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation Heather Humphreys said she will support the Prohibition of Above-Cost Ticket Touting Bill which was introduced by Noel Rock and Stephen Donnelly.
