Toy recall: Irish toy stores forced to issue a recall after a popular children’s toy is found to have a potentially dangerous fault

A number of toy shops across Ireland have been forced to recall a popular toy due to safety fears.

According to RSVP Live the recall comes after the manufacturer of the toy Vtech Electronics, discovered a fault that could be potentially dangerous to infants.

It is understood the Shake and Sing Elephant Rattle, was recalled after Vtech discovered that a metal rod holding an ear in place on the popular toy which is modelled on an elephant can become exposed rather easily.

Vtech say the product is considered unsafe as the a child can cause themselves a serious injury if the metal rod that holds the ear in place becomes exposed.

In a statement Vtech said anyone who purchased the product should return it to the retailer they purchased it form were they will be given a full refund.

They added all retailers who sold the product in Ireland have been notified about the fault.
