15-yr-old French schoolgirl Natasha Ednan-Laperouse’s family says she suffered a severe allergic reaction and later died in hospital in Nice after she age a baguette.
She died following a severe allergic reaction after eating a Pret a Manger baguette.
Natasha Ednan-Laperouse’s father’s efforts when she collapsed during their flight from Heathrow to Nice in 2016 were sadly not enough to save her.
Despite the fact that her father tried to use two epipens, she was declared dead at a hospital in the French city later the same day.
Shortly before boarding the plane Natasha had eaten an artichoke, olive and tapenade baguette purchased from the main Pret a Manger shop in Terminal 5 at the west London airport.
The bread contained sesame seeds which Natasha was severely allergic to – but they were not listed on the ingredients.
An inquest into Natasha’s death will begin today and will look at how one of the UK’s biggest food chains did not list the seeds as an ingredient.
