Tragic: 21-yr-old Louth man undergoes brain surgery as he fights for his life after getting beaten up on Saturday night




21-yr-old TJ Duffy is fighting for his life this evening after getting badly beaten up on the Main Street in Carrickmacross, County Monaghan at the weekend.

TJ is believed to be from Ardee, Co Louth and was enjoying a night out in the Monaghan town on Saturday night.

He got brutally attacked and badly beaten sustaining serious head injuries in the attack which occurred in the early hours of the Sunday morning.

A person walking home is said to have found him and contacted emergency services who took him  to Our Lady of Lourdes hospital in Drogheda but he was later transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin. He underwent brain surgery today.

The main suspect is believed to have fled the scene on foot via an alleyway off Main Street, Carrickmacross.

Gardai have appealed for witnesses to contact them on 042-9690190 , the Garda Confidential Line, 18 or any Garda station.
