A 75-yr-old man has lost his life as a result of his heroic life saving effort.
Two teenage girls got into trouble while swimming in Tywyn, Gwynedd, north-west Wales, at about 4.15pm yesterday.
RNLI crews from Aberdovey, tried to revive him at the scene, but he was airlifted to hospital by the Coastguard rescue helicopter, and unfortunately was later pronunced dead.
The incident sparked various announcements about the dangers of water, especially when people are playing in it and swimming in it during the summer.
