There has been another tragic drowning incident to hit Co Donegal as a woman has lost her life after her car left a pier in Co Donegal this afternoon.
The incident which occurred around 12.30pm outside the village of Kerrykeel, saw a young man frantically try to save the woman’s life.
According to local reports the young man tried desperately to save the woman after he noticed a blue Fiat Punto being driven off the short pier and into the water.
The young man apparently bravely jumped into the water and got to the car but unfortunately the car sank before he could reach the woman.
Reports say emergency services were on the scene quickly including Mulroy Coastguard and the Rescue 118 helicopter.
It is believed the car has since been located and that the body of the woman has been recovered.
