An elderly man has sadly passed away following a house fire in South Dublin.
It is understood the man was killed when his house on Merrion Road near Booterstown went on fire at approximately 3pm, on Tuesday afternoon.
The news of the man’s death was confirmed via tweet by Dublin Fire Brigade, who said the elderly man was found at a house along with his dog.
Gardaí say the man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene, and the cause of the fire is not being treated as suspicious.
Unfortunately, following the earlier domestic fire on Merrion Road and search of the building, the remains of a male has been found, along with a dog. 3 crews from Donnybrook and HQ fought the fire. The first call was at approximately 3.10pm.
