3-yr-old Rocco Wright tragically died after he drowned at the David Lloyd Club on Tongue Lane in Leeds on Saturday afternoon.

The horrific incident happened when he was there for a regular swimming lesson for his sister.

It’s understood that Rocco was taken to Leeds General Infirmary where he was pronounced dead, police confirmed

Rocco’s father had taken him and his four-year-old sister to the centre for his daughter’s regular swimming lesson.

It’s understood that the swimming coach was unable to attend so Mr Wright decided to take his children for a swim himself.

Thinking his son was playing hide and seek, tragically Mr Wright found that the little boy had in fact drowned.

According to Sky News, Mr Wright said: “It was at this point I decided I would forget the lesson and just swim with both my children only to realise I couldn’t see Rocco.”

“I checked round the poolside thinking he would be hiding, but devastatingly he wasn’t.”

“I found him at the far end of pool face down at the bottom. I dived in and got him out onto the poolside and screamed for help.”

After some online trolls blamed Mr Wright, the family have said that they are absolutely devastated by the tragedy and issued a statement through their lawyers, clarifying that the children had not been left unattended in the pool.
