An Irish woman who was residing in Taghazout, near the popular resort of Agadir, Morocco has died following an alleged stabbing.
Local reports declared that a man in his 40’s has been arrested in connection with the stabbing.
The alarm was raised after reports of a woman screaming came from an apartment complex.
Police arrived at the scene to find the victim bleeding from stab wounds to the head. She died shortly after in hospital.
A spokesperson at the Department of Foreign Affairs said they are aware of the incident yet full details remain unclear.
There is no Irish embassy in Morocco, so the Department are liaising with the embassy in Madrid.
