Police in the UK have sadly confirmed that an Irishman has died after he was swept into the sea during Storm Callum.
The tragic incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning, in Brighton, England.
In a brief statement released today Sussex police said they received a call of a man in the sea near West Street, Brighton, at approximately 1.20am on Saturday 13 October.
Although a number of attempts were made by rescue crews the man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
It is understood the 38-year-old man was from the Midlands.
