Tragic news this morning as a man in his 70s died following a suspected gas leak at his Waterford home last night




There was some sad news announced late last night as Gardai in Waterford City have confirmed that a man aged in his 70s sadly died at his home.

It is thought the elderly man died as a result of carbon monoxide positioning after a suspected leak occurred at his home in Connolly Place.

Gardai say they and emergency services were alerted to the incident at approximatley 6:20pm last night.

They say the man was found dead at the scene and a number of houses in the area were evacuated as engineers from Gas Networks Ireland carried out a search for a leak.

>It is understood the scene remains sealed off and that the man’s body has since been transferred to University Hospital Waterford where a post-mortem examination will take place.
