A 38-year-old pedestrian has died following a road collision in County Laois.
The fatal collision between the man and a car happened on the Ballylinan to Castlecomer Road at Crettyard just after 10pm last night.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 24-year-old woman driver of the car was uninjured.
The road remains closed for forensic examinations, with local diversions in place.
Gardaí in Abbeyleix are appealing for witnesses, or anyone who travelled on that road between 9.50pm and 10.40pm, to contact them at Abbeyleix Garda station on 057 8730580, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
