River rescue teams recovered the bodies of a man and woman yesterday afternoon from the River Shannon in Leitrim.
The couple have since been named as a married couple from Munich, Germany who were here on holiday.
39-year-old Frank Dunne and 34-year-old wife Alexandra Malkin went missing Friday morning after last been seen having a meal in a local restaurant on Wednesday evening.
The couple had recently moved to Germany with Mr Dunne originally from Malahide in Dublin and his wife was from England.
Their deaths are said to be a “tragic accident.”
Gardai confirmed the discovery of their bodies late yesterday evening. Their funerals will take place early next week.
