There was some sad news announced earlier today as it was confirmed that Comedy writer and actress Caroline Aherne has died at the age of 52.
The actress who is best known for writing and staring of the British smash hit comedy The Royle Family died after a long battle with lung cancer. Aherne who also starred in the Mrs Merton show revealed two years ago that she had been diagnosed with the terminal illness after previously being diagnosed with bladder and eye cancer.
The well know actress was also the voive of Channel 4’s hit series Gogglebox. The news of Aherne’s tragic passing was confirmed by her publicist Neil Reading who said: “Caroline Aherne has sadly passed away, after a brave battle with cancer.
“The Bafta award-winning writer and comedy actor died earlier today at her home in Timperley, Greater Manchester. She was 52. “The family ask for privacy at this very sad time.”
